Santa Anas
Some random thoughts in no particular order:
It was especially clear in the San Gabriel valley at the beginning of last week. The Santa Anas blew the smog south, affording a better-than-usual view of the foothills and the deep, autumn-blue sky. They also brought heat. Kind of a weird juxtaposition.
The Burger King down the street has a sign advertising Croissan’wiches. It says “Wake up with the King.” I like it.
Saturday we celebrated Alison’s (Ashley’s room-mate’s) birthday. Nine of us dressed up and went to the Cheesecake Factory in down town Pasadena. It was refreshing to browse the menu by the name of the dish rather than the price tag. If I’m going to pay too much for a meal, why on earth should I waste precious calories stressing over it, or deny myself the pleasure of dessert and a cup of espresso?
I ground the last of a two pound bag of coffee today. It should last the rest of the week. By then, I think it will have lasted about fifty days. Five bucks a pound for whole bean Starbucks coffee is a pretty good deal.
Like flip-flops in the winter, Naked Juice is very popular around here. Made in the San Gabriel valley, this delicious, nutritious, and viciously overpriced beverage comes in a variety of antioxidant-rich flavours. Many of the beverages are embellished with some extra nutrients. You might have to take out a home equity loan if you want to try every flavour.

Nice…I wish the smog would blow away here…I see it every morning driving down into the valley in which most of the rest of Tucson lies. But I agree, stressing over money is definitely not worth it.
