The phone rang, and she picked it up.
“もしもし。” she said.
The two roommates laughed. It seemed that someone had called her on their phone. After chatting a minute in english with her friend, she offered the phone to the amerikajin roommate. He accepted it, puzzled.
It was Ashley, who had called to ask whether she could give him the check. She knew Aika from her alpha group and was surprised when she answered the phone, and could she come by and say hi to Aika and drop off the check, and what was his room number again?
