Excerpt taken from Feeling Beautiful
…If we do not feel beautiful and pleasing to our bridegroom we will subconsciously avoid intimacy with Him…[This] is evidence of a lie [about who we are] worked in our way of thinking and habits. “Behold, thou art fair, my love[...],” (Song of Solomon 1:15) He says to us. “Thy lips are like a thread of scarlet, and thy speech is comely…” (4:13) He loves our prayers. “Turn away thine eyes from me, for they have overcome me…” (6:5) He is /overwhelmed/ with love for us when we look to Him. God is /overcome/ with love for you. “Thou hast ravished my heart, my sister, my spouse; thou hast ravaged my heart with one of thine eyes, with one chain of thy neck.” (4:9) It’s not by our actions that we please Him, we are simply beautiful to Him. I must believe, consciously and subconsciously, that “I am my Beloved’s and His desire is towards me.” (7:10) Then, when I know I am pleasing to Him, I will be quick to respond to my lover’s call to “…come away” (2:10) to the secret place.
